President Muhammadu Buhari’s media aide Lauretta Onochie has said Nigeria should not be fixated on which region produces its leaders.

Concise News reports that many Nigerians have been clamouring for the South East to produce the country’s next president in 2023.

Others believe that it is the turn of the South West to do so with a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu opening an office for his presidential campaign.

However, while replying a tweet which mentioned people of Igbo extraction that Buhari has handed top appointments, Onochie said Nigerians should focus on having good leaders irrespective of their religion or ethnic background.

“Meaning we don’t need to be fixated on having a President, Minister or Governor from our local area,” she said.

“We just need to focus on having leaders who can deliver on their mandate to ALL Nigerians, not minding religion nor ethnicity but focusing on meeting our peculiar & diverse needs.”
