Sydney Loofs, 24, has been found dead three weeks after she was declared missing following her date with a female friend she met online.
The 2011 graduate from Neligh-Oakdale was declared missing by her family in November.
That was after she went out on a date with Bailey Boswell of Wilber on 15 November.
The cause of her death has not been revealed.
Thankful in sadness
However, her father, George Loofe, thanked those who assisted in searching for her.
“Thank everyone that had anything to do with the search for Sydney, including praying, getting the word out, assisting with printing flyers, helping with billboards, spreading the word on social media and other assistance. The entire state and beyond tried to help and in our minds, a lot of good people exist in this world. Sydney just happened to run into someone that wasn’t,” he said.
The bereaved father said the family was alerted on 4 December that a body confirmed to be Sydney’s was found west of Wilber.
But before they could inform friends and other family members, the media had got wind of the it.
Meanwhile, two people linked with Sydney’s disappearance, Boswell and Aubrey Trail, are in police custody and two others were found last week and transferred to Nebraska.
Boswell already had a warrant for her arrest which was filed in 2016 for failing to make a Lancaster County Court appearance on allegations of possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
Trail’s warrant was issued one week after Sydney’s disappearance. He was accused of illegal possession of firearm and being a habitual criminal.
