Suspected herdsmen have killed a farmer at Onicha-Olona community on Delta state, community sources say.
It was gathered that the incident, which happened on Friday, followed the farmer’s refusal to allow herders graze on his farm, which they reportedly later set on fire.
Further reports show that the victim hailed from Anambra state but lived in the community due to his farming business.
“He challenged the herdsmen and refused to allow them to graze on his farm. They brought out a gun and shot him at close range. He fell and died on the spot,” Vanguard quoted a community source as saying.
“As I speak to you, there is tension in our community. Nobody knows what will happen next. The man’s corpse has just been taken to the Olona Police Station.”
