A group called the Free Africa From Corruption (FAFC) has called on the Federal Government to recover funds arising from custom duties and taxes that are trapped in some banks that acted as collecting agents.

The international aniti-corruption group made the call in a statement on Wednesday.

The group hailed the Federal Government through the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission for engaging seasoned accounting firms to recover the said funds.

FAFC, however, expressed concern over a possible collaboration between some unpatriotic individuals and some banks to deny the Nigeria of the much needed funds.

They called on the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission and other security agencies to closely monitor the recovery process with a view to ensuring that all possible saboteurs are identified and brought before the law.

FAFC said efforts should also be made to ensure that the exercise, which commenced several months ago, is concluded without further delay so that erring banks could be identified and sanctioned accordingly.
