Delta State Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim

The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspects in connection with the kidnap of four Britons at Enakorogha in Burutl local government area of the state.

According to the state’S Commissioner of Police, Zanna Ibrahim, the gang of suspected armed kidnappers are allegedly led by Karowei Mgho.

Ibrahim, during a press briefing at the state headquarters in Asaba, said the police acted on available intelligence, as the operatives of the command arrested the first four suspects with various degrees of complicity in the case.

Meanwhile, the gang leader, Karowei, an indigene of Enekorogha community has been declared wanted by the police with N2 million bounty placed on his head.

The police also stated that during the raid, an officer attached to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) was killed while trying to arrest the other gang members in Sapele.

According to the police, the officer was shot in the stomach before men of IRT came to his aid and gunned down the kidnapper.

The police commissioner added that investigation is still in progress.
