Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has slammed President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that the president has no control over the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris.
The chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known in a post on his Twitter page on Monday.
Fani-Kayode wrote: “The fact that Pres. Buhari has no control over his own I-G of Police speaks volumes.
“Two months after he directed him to move to Benue to ensure that the killings stopped he tells us that he just found out that the I-G was not even there for up to 24 hours!
“What a shameful mess!”
Buhari on his visit to Benue on Monday denied knowledge of IGP Ibrahim Idris’s absence in the state, stating that he (Idris) disobeyed his order .
The statement sparked different reactions as Nigerians and politicians queried how a president of the country will not be aware of IG of Police movements and decisions concerning serious matters.
