Emefiele, whose tenure expires on June 2, 2019, was first appointed by former President Goodluck Jonathan in 2014 and was retained after Buhari assumed office in 2015.

It is the first time since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy, that anyone would be nominated to serve two terms as CBN governor.

Reacting to the development, Omokri whose is a staunch critic of Buhari, said this meant the Nigerian leader is shedding his clannish nature.

“I am a critic of President @MBuhari because I believe he is inept and tribalistic. However, when he does well, I must commend him,” he tweeted.

“In nominating Godwin Emefiele for a 2nd term, Buhari showed he is listening and is slowly shedding his clannish nature. For that, I commend him.”
