INEC Fixes Date For Adamawa Supplementary Election

The Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) has assured that it will conduct a free and fair local government poll, Concise News reports.

This online news medium reports that the INEC Chairman in Benue State,  Tersoo Loko, gave the assurance on Sunday in Makurdi.

According to him, he has already he had discussed with the state Governor Samuel Ortom on the need to conduct elections once the tenure of the present council chairmen in over in June.

“As you can see, the governor himself has said that local government elections is going to be conducted within shortest possible time owing to the fact that the tenure of the current local government councils chairmen is going to elapse on June 3, 2019,” Loko told Punch.

“I am convinced that he is not the kind of governor that would push me to do anything contrary.

“We are going to conduct free and fair elections. I am a man of integrity and am ready to get it right because a good name is better than gold and silver.

“I don’t look like someone that could be called and used. Prior to this appointment, I was a renowned academia in a higher Institution of a very high pedigree and nobody would influence me by virtue of being a government in power.

“Therefore, l will conduct elections that will be devoid of manipulation whereby whoever wins will be announced. It is not going to be business as usual.”
