Virgil van Dijk, according to Wenger, should not have let Luis Suarez score the first goal after he got a pass from Jordi Alba sent

The Dutchman did not pick up Luis Suarez’s run during the first half at the Nou Camp.

Speaking about the goal, Wenger noted that “van Dijk covers but he should go with Suarez to cover that goal!”

He said, “When they go in the final third, they are quality Barcelona,’ Wenger told beINsports during the half-time break.

“You’ve seen the goal – one chance, one goal. It is very interesting because Van Dijk covers but he should go with Suarez to cover that ball.

“Especially from a central defender with that quality, he lets him go. From the start, his position is not bad but he refuses to respond.”

Lionel Messi bagged a brace in the encounter to hand the Spanish side an edge ahead of the second leg tie at the Anfield.
