“The needless scuffle btw a villa accredited photographer, Mr. Adeshida & one of our security aides earlier today has since been resolved. Incident is regretted & I have apologized to him for any embarrassment caused. Also, a list circulating in the media on d so-called sacked … “…presidential aides is not genuine and ought to be ignored,” he tweeted Thursday.

Recall that this news medium reported on Thursday how the names of Osinbajo’s aides allegedly sacked by President Muhammadu Buhari emerged. B

uhari, who is in London, United Kingdom, for a two-week “private visit” and expected back in Abuja on November 17, was said to have approved the sack on Tuesday. A

mong those affected are Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants, Personal Assistants, Technical Assistants, and some whose appointments were approved in August.

The affected aides were said to have been posted out to some line ministries relevant to their designation in October, and are expected to be given disengagement letters soon.

“Although more than half of the aides are under the payroll of donor agencies, the cabal eased them out in order to whittle down the influence of the vice president,” DAILY NIGERIAN quoted a source as saying.

“None of them were queried or interdicted for any wrongdoing. It is not about cutting cost, because no aide was sacked in the president’s office nor office of the First Lady, where six more aides appointed less than one month ago. They were just sacked to reduce the VP’s influence.”

According to a source who spoke to Daily Trust, those who were affected are the Special Assistant, Legal to the President (VP’s office) Ajibola Ajayi who is the daughter of former governor of Oyo state, Isiaka Ajimobi.

She was appointed in August 2019 and was a former Special Adviser to the President on Bureau of Public Enterprises, BPE, VP’s office, from October 2015 to May 2019.

Others whose were sacked included: the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on ICT Lanre Osinbona; SSA on Infrastructure Imeh Okon;  SA, Oil & Gas Jide Awolowo; SA Political Gambo Manzo, and Edobor Iyamu, SSA, Niger Delta.

“The letters were distributed to the affected aides through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation,” the anonymous source added.

“The vice president has retrieved the sack letters from the affected aides. He is unhappy with the development and awaiting the return of the president from the United Kingdom.”
