Popular British media personality, Katie Hopkins, has ridiculed Nigerian firefighters, after popular Balogun market in Lagos State was gutted by fire in the early hours of Tuesday.
Shortly after the incidence, a video surfaced online where a firefighter was seen trying to quench the uncontrollable fire with buckets of water.
Meanwhile, it is not clear if the video was truly a scene from the market.
But reacting in a tweet, Hpkins shared the video, while saying that British firefighters should not be criticised, as they are better than those in Nigeria.
She tweeted: “Next time you want to criticise our fantastic British firefighters, be glad you aren’t Nigeria.”
Meanwhile, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-olu had hailed all emergency responders, saying they responded swiftly to the fire that broke out 24 hours ago.
The governor thanked the people for their support and also solicited their assistance, urging property and store owners to give way to responders to do their work.
Further speaking, the Governor stated that full integrity tests shall be performed on the buildings on the left and right of number 43, Martins Street that got burnt on Tuesday.
