Benue Anti-Open Grazing Law: Gov. Ortom Issues Stern Warning To Cow Owners
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state on Thursday warned livestock owners in the state against infringements on the state’s Anti Open Grazing law.
Ortom gave the warning in a statement issued by Terver Akase, the Chief Press Secretary in Makurdi.
He cautioned livestock owners in the state to abide by the requirements of the law by properly ranching their animals and warned that defaulters of the law would be sanctioned.
The governor was irked by the sight of herds of cattle roaming Makurdi metropolis and ordered the livestock guards to immediately swing to action and impound them. Read more here.
Tiv Youth Council Sends Message To Army, DSS, Others Over Peace In Benue, Taraba
The Tiv Youth Council Worldwide has commended the Nigerian Army and other security agencies for restoring peace in Benue and Taraba states after deadly clashes in Tiv communities.
The commendation was made in a statement issued on Thursday by Mike Msuaan, the President, Tiv Youth Council Worldwide.
Msuaan recalled that the Benue valley and surrounding states were gradually becoming a hotbed of violence and almost becoming a safe haven for terrorists before the intervention of the security agents.
“The timely strategic intervention of the gallant forces of the Nigerian Army, however, ensured that the situation was brought under full control without degenerating further.” Read more here.
