Enugu: Abducted Catholic Priest Fr. Madu Regains Freedom

Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu of the Queen of Apostles Seminary, Imezi Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area, Enugu State has been released by his abductors.

Concise News had reported that Rev. Fr. Arinze Madu was kidnapped by some unknown gunmen at the gate of the school on Monday.

However, he has been freed on Wednesday by the hoodlums with the Enugu State Police Public Relations Officer Ebere Amaraizu confirming the development.

According to Amaraizu, the clergyman was released without hurt following his kidnap.

The Catholic Diocese of Enugu also corroborated the police on the release of the clergyman.

“Father Madu, the kidnapped priest of the Catholic Diocese of Enugu has been released,” the Diocese posted on its Facebook page.

It noted that Father Madu “was released this (Wednesday) afternoon from the kidnappers’ den.”

The Enugu State Government had urged security agencies to ensure the rescue of the priest.
