The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday in Abuja, congratulated Governor Nyesom Wike of River state, over the Supreme Court judgment that affirmed his election, Concise News reports.
The party in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the judgment as the final triumph of justice and the will of the people over anti-democratic forces.
Ologbondiyan said that the judgment had further strengthened the confidence of the people on the integrity of the Supreme Court.
He said that it had also confirmed the court readiness to correct any miscarriage of justice at lower stages of justice system, particularly electoral cases.
He said that such fearless verdict was needed at all levels of the justice system to achieve the much-needed stability.
Ologbondiyan congratulated Wike and the people of Rivers state for the landmark ruling.
He said that the ruling consolidated the platform for the governor to continue in his commitment towards greater productivity without further distractions from those who do not wish the state well.
Ologbondiyan said it was optimistic that all its stolen mandates would be retrieved so as to save the nation and give Nigerians the purposeful leadership they yearn for at the trying time.
Kogi election: PDP begins campaign
In related news, the PDP in Kogi has urged the electorate in the state to use the November 16 governorship election to install good governance.
PDP National Chairman Uche Secondus made the plea at the inauguration of the governorship campaign of the party in Lokoja on Friday.
Secondus called on the people of the state to vote Musa Wada, the governorship candidate of the party.
He said that the issues of non-payment of salary and pensions would become a thing of the past, saying that roads, water and other infrastructure would also be provided.
The Chairman of the PDP Campaign Council, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, also charged the electorate to emulate their counterparts in his state by voting for the PDP next month.
The Chairman of PDP Governors Forum, Governor Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa, similarly, urged the people to vote Wada on the election day.
He told them that Wada would deliver in his campaign promises, saying that they would heave a new sigh of relief under a PDP administration.
The highpoint of the event was the presentation of the governorship candidate to Wada and his running mate, Bamidele Aro, by Secondus.
The national chairman also presented Senator Dino Melaye with a flag as the candidate of the party for the re-run election for Kogi West Senatorial District on November 16.
Others speakers at the event are the National Women Leader or the party, Hajia Mariya Waziri and Senator Melaye.
Dignitaries at the event include Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State and the deputy-governors of Taraba and Benue, among others.
