Kogi: PDP Reps State Desire In Achuba Squabble

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) caucus in the House of Representatives has called for the reinstatement of Simon Achuba as Deputy Governor of Kogi state.

In a statement signed by the leader of the caucus, Rep. Kingsley Chinda (PDP-Rivers), the lawmakers urged the National Assembly, civil society groups and all well-meaning Nigerians to act and save democracy from total collapse.

The lawmakers said that the events leading to the impeachment of Achuba as Deputy Governor were embarrassing and that the entire impeachment process itself was a hoax.

Kogi: Don Tells Impeached Deputy-Governor What To Do

Prof. Akin Oyebode of International Law and Jurisprudence, on Friday urged the impeached Deputy Governor of Kogi state, Simon Achuba, to challenge his impeachment in court.

Oyebode told NAN that the impeachment was an abuse of the law.

Until recently, Oyebode was a professor of International Law and Jurisprudence in the University of Lagos.

He said that seeking redress would serve as a deterrent to future abusers of the process of law.

“Impeachment is an admixture of law and politics. Even, so often, politicians act as if it is more of the latter than the former.” Read more here.
