Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State said he sacked the chairman of Etsako West Local Government, Yakubu Musa, over his involvement in an N46m fraud.
Concise News understands that Musa is a close ally and political godson of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiomhole.
The governor subsequently swore-in Imonofi Osumah Inusa as the new Council boss at the Government House, in Benin City on Wednesday.
While swearing in Osumah, the governor reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance for corruption and negligence of duty.
Obaseki said that investigations by a panel constituted by the state government reported that the former council boss engaged in fraudulent activities and lacked the ability to supervise the staff of the Council.
The governor said: “With the permission and authorisation of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA), we dropped Yakubu Musa for engaging in corrupt activities.
“He was dropped based on the investigation conducted following reports and observations at the monthly Joint Account Allocation Committee meetings I preside over.”
