1. Russia-Africa Summit: What Buhari, Putin Discussed

President Muhammadu Buhari and his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin Wednesday in Sochi, Russia, agreed to put Nigeria-Russia relations on a fast track, and pursue the completion of partially completed and abandoned projects initiated by both countries. According to a press release by the Senior Special Assistant to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the two leaders agreed to start new infrastructure projects and expand trade and investment, security and military cooperation at a bilateral meeting held on sidelines of ongoing Russia-Africa Summit.

Nigeria’s Ministry of Communications has been renamed as Federal Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy, Concise News reports. The Minister of Communications, Isa Pantami, made this known on Wednesday, October 23, after the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

3. Minimum Wage: FEC Issues Directive To Finance Minister On Payment

The uncertainty surrounding when the payment of the new national minimum wage to Nigerian workers will resume seems to have been put to rest by the Federal Executive Council (FEC). The FEC presided over by Vice President Prof. Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday directed the Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, to effect payment of the new minimum wage on or before 31st December 2019.

4. Border Closure: Rice To Sell For N9000 Per Bag Next Month – Presidency

The presidency has expressed optimism that with the bumper harvest expected from farmers, the price of a bag of rice would crash to N9,000. This statement came from Lauretta Onochie who is the Social Media Aide to President Muhammadu Buhari.

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with the President of Russia Vladimir Putin at the opening event of the 2019 Russia-Africa Summit on Wednesday. In a tweet on his handle, Buhari’s New Media aide Bashir Ahmed shared some photos of the meeting between the two leaders.

Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has lambasted the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, over comments on the proposed enrolment in Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS). Rising from its congress on Wednesday, the university lecturers asked Idris to deal with alleged corruption issues in his office rather than describing the Union as endorsing corruption.
