The Minister of Labour and Employment (state) in Nigeria, Festus Keyamo (SAN) has promised to personally bring the matter of a lady who died after being rejected by a hospital to the attention of the authorities in Plateau state.
Concise News reports that a Twitter user identified as Othniel Anselm shared the story of how a younger sister, Jemima, a University of Jos (UNIJOS) student and her friend, Jennifer, passed away.
The social media user had shared the story in a thread.
According to the user, a Jemima and Jennifer were involved in an accident caused by a drunk driver.
Consequently, they were rushed to the hospital but the hospital rejected them, asking for a police report.
Anselm revealed that Jemima and Jennifer gave up the ghost before they could get to another hospital.
Anselm also alleged that the police were planning to release the one who caused the death of Jemima and two others on bail.
Since the story was shared, Nigerians have been calling for justice for Jemima, Jennifer, and the tricycle driver (all dead).
Minister Keyamo who joined other compatriots in voicing out on the issue expressed his sadness at the incident and promised Anselm that he will follow up the matter and ensure justice is served.
He made this known on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.
He wrote: “Deep and sincere condolences. Their killer will not go scot-free, I assure you. I will personally bring this to the attention of the authorities in Plateau State, especially the Ministry of Justice, follow up the matter and ensure you get justice.”
