A former Senator Shehu Sani has hailed Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for doling out N200m to the family of late Gberegbe Ferry.
Concise News understands that Gberegbe, an agent of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Khana Local Government Area Governorship Election during Rivers State Governor, but was killed during the poll.
Gberegbe, who was a lecturer at the Ken Saro Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori was allegedly killed by an official of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) at the Bori Governorship Election Collation Centre.
Wike had vowed to give the children of the deceased an N200m scholarship and on Monday, redeemed the pledge.
“The State Government will offer scholarship to the four young children left behind by the deceased,” Wike said during the condolence visit.
“The Mother of the children should open dedicated account for each of the children. The State Government will pay N50 million to each of the four children for their education ”
While reacting to the redemption of the vow, Sani took to his Twitter handle to commend Wike for the act.
“The payment of N200Million by Governor Wike to the families of the deceased Polytechnic lecturer who was reportedly murdered in an attempt to resist the hijacking of election materials is commendable,” he tweeted.
“The late lecturer’s act was courageous and heroic.”
