Onoja Sworn In As Kogi Deputy Governor After Achuba’s Impeachment
The immediate past Chief of Staff to Governor Yahaya Bello, Edward David Onoja, has been sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State.
Onoja is also running with Bello in his re-election race for the highest office in the north-central state.
The swearing-in ceremony for Onoja was held on Monday at the Government House in Lokoja, as the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Nasir Ajana, administered the oath of office on him in the presence of his wife. Read more here.
Kogi Deputy Gov. Impeachment: Sen. Abaribe Sends Message To Buhari
Minority leader of the Senate, Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to intervene in the impeachment of Kogi State Deputy Governor, Simon Achuba by the House of Assembly.
Abaribe, in a statement on Monday in Abuja, urged Buhari to rise above party affiliations and intervene to ensure the country’s constitution was protected, if the authorities in Kogi state failed to do so.
Kogi West: INEC Fixes Date For Melaye, Adeyemi Fresh Election Battle
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the fresh Kogi West Senatorial election involving Dino Melaye of the PDP and Smart Adeyemi of the APC, is to hold on November 16.
According to a statement signed by INEC’s Chairman of its Information and Voter Committee, Festus Okoye, the senate election would hold simultaneously with the Kogi governorship election.
In the statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, Okoye, INEC National Commissioner, said that another by-election for the Sabuwa State Constituency in Katsina State had been slated for November 30. Read more here.
