Border Closure: Benue’s Ortom Sends Message To FG
As Nigeria’s borders remain closed, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue state has again told the Federal Government to rein in on foreign herdsmen, entering the country illegally to attack Nigerians, especially farmers.
Ortom made the appeal when he visited one Mrs Wanhena Cheku, a victim of herders’ attack now recuperating at the Federal Medical Centre at Apir in Makurdi.
Cheku’s left hand was cut off in an attack on her farm at Mbagwem community in the Guma Local Government area of the state. Read more here.
Amendment Bill On Benue School Of Nursing And Midwifery Passes 1st Reading Bill
A Bill to amend Benue School of Nursing and Midwifery law 2012 on Tuesday passed first reading at the state House of Assembly.
Speaking during plenary, Majority Leader, Damian Cheme said that the bill is for a law to make provisions for the repeal of the state Schools of Nursing and Midwifery, Makurdi Law number eight of 2012.
Cheme said repealing the law would enable the state to transfer the premises, physical facilities and documents of the schools to the College of Health Sciences, Benue State University. Read more here.
