Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen has thanked those who voted for him as the French Ligue 1 Player of the Month for September 2019, Concise News reports.
Concise News had reported that Osimhen who features for Lille saw off competition from Algeria’s Islam Slimani and France’s Nicolas Pallois to scoop the award.

The former Sporting Charleroi star got 45% of the votes with Monaco’s Islam Slimani having (37%) and Nantes’ Nicolas Pallois bagging (18%).
While reacting to the development, the Nigerian striker and a winner of the U-17 World Cup in 2015, thanked his family, teammates and fans as well for the gong.
He took to his Instagram page to also acknowledge God as the greatest, expressing his desire to do more.
“September player of the month💪🏽major thanks to those who voted for me,” he wrote.
“I appreciate each and everyone you; special gratitude goes to my family, teammates and my loved ones. GOD is the greatest; we move.”
He struck twice in September as well as provided two assists as his club jumped to second on the Ligue 1 log.
Osimhen scored against SCO Angers before hitting another goal when Les Dogues took on Strasbourg.
His assists came in games against Rennes and Strasbourg and he is now the fourth-highest goalscorer in the top five European Leagues, trailing Bayern Munich’s Lewandowski (11 goals), Manchester City’s Aguero and Chelsea’s Abraham (both with 8 goals).
Overall, he has scored seven times in nine games in the French domestic league.
Osimhen was part of the Nigerian side that claimed the bronze medal at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
