Kogi Governorship Election: State REC Tells Stakeholders What They Shouldn’t Do

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kogi state, Prof. James Apam on Thursday said it was counter-productive for politicians and electoral stakeholders to cast aspersions and destroy the credibility of the commission.

Apam said this in Lokoja during a stakeholders’ meeting organised by INEC to interface with political parties, their candidates, security agencies and other interested parties.

He said it was counterproductive when politicians cast aspersions and destroy the credibility of the same institution whose work they hoped to benefit from. Read more here.

Kogi Poll: Yahaya Bello Gets Backing Of Top Elders

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been endorsed for second term in office by former Minister of Police Affairs Gen.David Jemibewon, a former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bayo Ojo (SAN) and 14 leaders of Kogi West Elders Forum (KWEF).

They said their decision followed talks between the governor and the forum.

According to them, they opted to back Bello based on his pledges to protect lives and property; pay workers’ salaries and to complete all ongoing projects in Kogi West District. Read more here.

Kogi West: Dino Melaye Reacts To Appeal Court Judgment

The Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Dino Melaye, has announced the loss of his election at the Appeal Court on Friday.

This online news medium had reported that the Court of Appeal in Abuja upheld the judgement of the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal in Kogi State that sacked Senator Dino Melaye (PDP-Kogi West) in August.

PDP Appoints Saraki As Head Of Reconciliation Committee For Bayelsa, Kogi

Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has been appointed as head of the Peoples Democratic Party National Reconciliation Committee for Bayelsa and Kogi States.

The PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, made this known during the inauguration of the committee at the party’s headquarters in Abuja on Friday.

Secondus while inaugurating the committee and two campaign committees urged the  Saraki committee to reconcile all aggrieved PDP leaders and members in the two states. Read more here.

Kogi Governorship Election: Yahaya Bello Makes ‘Strong’ Vow

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state has said that he would strive hard to ensure that the November 16 governorship poll in the state is rancour-free and credible.

The governor gave the assurance on Thursday in Lokoja at a stakeholders’ meeting organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to interface with political parties, their candidates, security agencies and other interested parties.
