The Federal Government has recruited over 1,350 unemployed youths under the N-power programme as agricultural extension workers in Cross River, Concise News reports.

This news medium understands that the State Coordinator of Sasakawa Global 2000 Ekok Ntua revealed the employment of the N-Power beneficiaries on Thursday.

He spoke after inspection a cassava demonstration farm at Okonde in Ikom Local Government Area of the state.

According to Ntua, those recruited under the N-agro component of the N-power scheme, had been trained on extension services to complement the extension workers under the state’s Agricultural Development Project (ADP)

“You know, according to World Bank, the ration should be one extension worker to between 800 and 1,000 farmers,” he told NAN.

“But here, the ration is one extension worker to 4,000 farmers.”

This is as he said the recruitment of the N-agro agents had immensely supported farmers in the state by giving them the needed farming techniques for improved productivity.

Reward For Diligence

Meanwhile, a beneficiary of the N-Power scheme in Abia State identified as Jane Okeruo has gotten a car gift from Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Concise News reports.

Okeruo who is in a beneficiary of the N-Power Teach got the vehicle during the World Teachers Day for her hard work and diligence.

In a tweet on its handle, the scheme wrote that “At N-Power, we consistently advocate diligence.

“Here is a story of diligence and its rewards. At the last World Teacher Day, Governor of Abia State gave Jane Okeruo a vehicle honouring her hardwork and commitment to her pupils and school as an N-Power Teach beneficiary.”
