Taraba Assembly Impeaches Deputy Speaker
The Taraba State House of Assembly, on Monday, impeached its Deputy Speaker, Hon. Mohammed Gwampo.
It was learned that Gwampo who is representing Yorro State constituency was impeached at the plenary session of the House for lack of competence to discharge his duties.
The motion for the impeachment of the Deputy Speaker was moved by the former Majority Leader, Hon. Albasu Kunini, of Lau State constituency.
Following his impeachment, the House has elected Hon. Charles Maijankai of Karim Lamido I State constituency as the new Deputy Speaker.
Maijankai until his election as the new Deputy Speaker was the Majority Leader of the House.
Taraba Killing: Panel Recommends Disciplinary Actions For Army Captain, Four Others
The Board of Inquiry set up by the Defence Headquarters, Abuja, has recommended sanctions for five officers of the Nigerian Army and the Police over the killing of three policemen and one civilian in Ibi, Taraba State.
The Board of Inquiry was put together at the instance of President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the killings in Taraba on August 6, 2019.
The seven-member panel, led by Rear Admiral Ibikunle Olaiya, in a statement issued by the DHQ on Tuesday, identified and recommended that the officers should be investigated and face necessary disciplinary measures. Read more here.
