Promise Isaac, former captain of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles and Beijing Olympics silver medalist, has died at the age of 31, his club, Austin Bold FC, announced on Thursday.
Concise News learned that the ex-youth international, who played under former Super Eagles head coach, Samson Siasia, died on Wednesday night after collapsing at his apartment gym in Austin, Texas, United States.
This news medium understands that police said authorities were called after a report of a deceased person at Isaac’s apartment but no further details were immediately available.
It was also gathered that Austin Bold owner Bobby Epstein said Isaac collapsed at the apartment gym and no foul play was suspected.
“Austin Bold FC is heartbroken by the death of Promise Isaac who passed Wednesday night at the age of 31,” a statement on the club’s website read.

He represented Nigeria in the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in which Nigeria lost in the final to an Argentine team featuring Lionel Messi.
Isaac, who captained Nigeria’s U-23 team to the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where they also lost in the final of the football event to Argentina, joined Austin Bold in August 2018.
He had spent the previous 12 seasons in the Turkish Süper Lig, TFF First League, and the Saudi Professional League, registering more than 350 appearances and scoring 79 goals.
