Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has blasted his players following their 2-2 draw at home to Belgian side Club Brugge in a Champions League clash.
Concise News had reported that Super Eagles forward Emmanuel Dennis bragged a brace for Club Brugge at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night.
But the Spanish side fought back through Sergio Ramos and Casemiro.
In spite of that, Zidane said they started badly in the clash.
“The first goal we have conceded was laughable,” Zidane told Marca. “We started badly, and from the 10th minute we were not concentrated in the areas where the opponent could hurt us.
“When they scored the first, they got a boost and we were even worse, and they scored the second.
“I insist that I’m glad about the second half, [it was] a bad result but good reaction.
“We can’t be happy; we played 45 minutes completely different to the other. I’m happy with the reaction, although I’m not happy with the point.”
He added that “I told them that we have 45 minutes to change this, and they changed it. They went out with more attitude and wanted to take over the game.”
“We have the next league game and we know that we are in a slightly worse situation in the Champions League, but we will continue [fighting].”
Nigerian Under Fire
Some South Africa football fans have criticised Super Eagles striker, Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis for ‘not passing the ball’ to Bafana Bafana forward, Percy Tau on a counter-attack chance when Club Brugge clashed with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday.
Tau made the assist for Dennis’ opener, before being pulled off in injury time. Dennis himself did not play all 90 minutes.
Despite helping the Belgian side to an impressive outing in Spain, some South Africans besieged the official Twitter account of Club Brugge to express their displeasure with Dennis, 21 for being ‘selfish.’
