Nigeria’s President, Muhammadu Buhari, his vice, Yemi Osinbajo, former Head of State retired general Yakubu Gowon and other top government officials have participated in the Independence Day ceremony.

Concise News reports that Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, gained independence from United Kingdom on October 1st 1960 – 59 years ago.

President Buhari, who had addressed Nigerians in the early hours of Tuesday, attended the colourful ceremony at the State House, Abuja.
