Georginio Wijnaldum scored the winner as leaders Liverpool extended their winning run in the Premier League to seven with a 1-0 defeat of hosts Sheffield United on Saturday afternoon.

Concise News reports that the Reds, by virtue of this win, sit top of the table by eight points after winning 16 Premier League games on the bounce.

They have now won at 56 different stadiums in the Premier League, more than any other side.

Jurgen Klopp’s men were, however, far from their best in South Yorkshire, with substitute Leon Clarke, missing a chance to level matters.

Liverpool’s lead could be reduced later in the day when second-placed Manchester City take on Wolves.

“We didn’t start the game well. In the first half we slowed the game down too much and that’s why they could stop us,” goalscorer Wijnaldum said.

“It was not the best game we had but we won. A few years ago we would not have been able to win these games.

“It could be a really important three points. It’s really good to keep collecting the points.”
