Benue: Police Rescue Businessman Kidnapped In Gboko

Police in Benue say they have rescued a 61-year-old businessman from his abductors in Gboko area of the north-central state.

Concise News learned that the victim, John Akombo, is a Nigerian Brewery Distributor.

He was kidnapped from his office at gunpoint and forced into a waiting Honda Pilot Jeep.

But eyewitnesses said the police were promptly alerted and a team of security joint task force in the area, including the Army, pursued the abductors from JS Tarka Way.

It was learned that the abductors were overpowered and the abductee was rescued around Mbaamandev, Mkar- Ameladu road in Gboko.

Spokesman for the police in he state, DSP Catherine Anene, said that the timely information by members of the public helped the rescue mission.

“The police gave the abductors a hot chase and when they saw that there was no way for them any longer, they abandoned their victim, their vehicle and ran into the forest,” she said.
