Super Eagles legend Kanu Nwankwo has backed compatriot Alex Iwobi’s move to Everton from Arsenal on transfer deadline day, Concise News reports.
Iwobi who featured for Nigeria at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt left the Emirates Stadium for 40 million Pounds.
He signed a five-year deal with the Toffees that will saw him become the most expensive Nigerian player.
While reacting to the move, Kanu who also played for the Gunners, wished Iwobi well in his future endeavours.
The former Ajax man posted a photo of himself and Iwobi on his Twitter handle.
“Once a Gunner, always a Gunner. We are proud of you Alex Iwobi and will continue to support you. Good luck with your new club,” he tweeted.
Iwobi played 148 times, bagged 15 goals, and won one FA Cup and two FA Community Shields in his 16-year stint at the North London outfit.
