1. Court Orders DSS To Detain Sowore For 45 Days

The Federal High Court in Abuja has granted the Department of State Service (DSS) permission to detain the publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, for 45 days. The presiding judge, Justice Taiwo Taiwo, gave the ruling on Thursday on an ex parte application filed by the DSS on Tuesday to keep Sowore for 90 days to investigate him over his call for revolution.

The South-East Chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Siddiki Gidado, has claimed that bandits are responsible for most killings and kidnappings in the geo-political zone. Gidado stated that although there might be few bad eggs among the Fulani, most of the kidnappings and killings could also be attributed to other cattle rearers.

Iwu was arraigned in court on Thursday by the EFCC for allegedly laundering N1.2billion.

In a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Media, Benjamin Kalu, the Senate said while the Parliament while comply with the court ruling, it will appeal because the injunction poses a problem to the principles of power separation in a democratic system.
