Premier League side Arsenal on Friday announced that record signing Nicolas Pepe was regaining full match fitness ahead of the start of the 2019/20 Premier League season, Concise News has learned.
The Côte d’Ivoire international joined the Gunners this month from French side Lille for £72million, eclipsing the previous record of €62 million for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
In a post on their website, the north London club suggested that Pepe could be fit for selection when Unai Emery’s charges begin their top flight campaign against Newcastle at St. James’ Park.
“Regaining full match fitness following late return from Africa Cup of Nations. Decision to be made on participation for Sunday,” the club stated on their website.
Similarly, Arsenal said forward Alex Lacazette was still being assessed ahead of the league opener, while defender Hector Bellerin, with left knee injury, could return by October.
