Former Barcelona captain, Carles Puyol has taken to social media to share a picture of his bloodied arm and leg following an accident in a game of paddle tennis.
Concise News reports that Puyol, who was in Nigeria in April has recently returned from holiday with his wife Vanessa Lorenzo and decided to spend some time on one of his hobbies.
In an attempt to save a point and return the ball to his opponent, Puyol crashed though a wall of glass and, as a result, sustained some cuts and bruises.
The man known as ‘The Wall’ picked himself up and laughed off the incident though.
Padel games typically take place in enclosed courts, which are a third of the size of a standard tennis court.
The sport originates from Mexico, and makes use of the glass walls to play a variety of shots, in a similar vein to squash.
Several colleagues reacted to Puyol’s social media post, producing varying responses.
Ex-Chelsea midfielder Deco opted to use emojis to mock his former teammate, while Portuguese legend Figo commented ‘you look very strong’.
John Terry, now assistant coach at Aston Villa, also poked fun at the father of two, saying: ‘You will have to learn to lose the paddle against me.’
