A former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for acccepting the court ruling on the release of Ibrahim El-ZakZaky.

El-ZakZaky is the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) and has been in detention since 2015.

Members of the IMN who are known as Shiites have had series of protests for the release of their leader.

A court in Kaduna, Monday, ruled that El-ZakZaky should be freed to go for medical treatment in India.

While reacting to the development, Fani-Kayode who is a chieftain of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) hailed Buhari for obeying the court order.

He, however, called on him to release the Publisher of Sahara Reporters Omoyele Sowore and others in detention.

“I commend Buhar for honoring the court order and releasing Sheik El ZakZaky,” he tweeted.

“I urge him to release Col. Sambo Dasuki,who has been in solitary confinement for the last 3 years despite numerous court orders to release him, Sowore, Dadiyata and ALL other pol. prisoners.”
