Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has issued a strong warning to people planning to stage ‘RevolutionNow’ protest in the state.
Concise News understands that Governor Wike had banned stagging of protest of the “Revolution Now” by protesters in the state.
The Governor, who ordered all Local Government chairmen in the state to notify any suspected activities to the authorities.
This online news platform had earlier reported that a presidential candidate under the African Action Congress (AAC) in the last election, Omoyele Sowore, had called for nationwide protests on Monday which he tagged as “Revolution Now.”
The “Revolution Now” protest, which was scheduled to take place on Monday, August 5.
This led to the arrest of the convener by the personnel of the Department of State Services, DSS, in the early hours of Saturday.
Meanwhile, Governor Wike in a statement issued by his Special Assistant on Electronic Media, Simeon Nwakaudu, he said Rivers State is not part of the ‘Revolution Now’ protest, describing it’s an ‘illegal agenda’.
Wike said, “Rivers State is not part of the ‘Revolution Now’ protest and whatever illegal agenda it seeks to pursue.
“Rivers State does not subscribe to what the ‘Revolution Now’ protest represents and Rivers State is not part of the protest.”
He directed security agencies in Rivers to arrest and arraign for immediate prosecution anybody who gets involved in the protest in the state.
