The Benue State Government says it will compensate traders who lost valuables to the fire that gutted Makurdi Modern Market in June, Concise News reports. Merga Kachina, Commissioner for Trade and Investment, who disclosed this on Thursday in Makurdi, when the traders paid him a solidarity visit, said that arrangements for the exercise were in top gear. He described the inferno as “unfortunate and saddening”, and regretted the untold hardship on the victims. Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State has arrived the United States of America (USA) for the Tiv Conventions, Concise News reports. Ortom was accompanied by the Benue State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Sir John Ngbede, and they were received on Thursday at the airport in Maryland, United States by Nigerian embassy officials ahead of today’s Mutual Union of Tiv in America (MUTA) Convention. The Convention which commenced yesterday will end on Sunday.
