The group has been protesting for the release of its leader Ibrahim El-Zakzaky and clashed with the police in Abuja.

While reacting to the proscription of the group, Shehu Sani who is a former Senator from Kaduna Central, lashed out at leaders in the northern region for backing government’s move.

According to him, such leaders have been mute when it comes to issues concerning Boko Haram.

In a post on Twitter, he described such behaviour as cowardice.

“Many political leaders and Clerics in the north are more courageous when it comes to speaking out against the IMN and cowardly when it comes to expressing their opinions on the BH,” he said.
