Senator Uba Sani has expressed optimism that the 2019 budget will be passed by the lawmakers in December.

Sani spoke on Tuesday in Abuja after the Senate confirmed President Muhammadu Buhari’s 43-person ministerial nominees.

According to the Kaduna Central lawmaker, if the Senate gets the budget by September, it will be passed as soon as possible so the executive can start the implementation of projects.

“We have procurement procedures, even if the budget is approved by the National Assembly, it will take nothing less than 3 months to initiate any major project in this country,” Sani told NAN.

“The Senate President has promised that we will try and suspend the plenary for at least a month and focus on the budget.

“So, we can pass the budget before December, and the President can start implementing major projects by January.”
