As activities intensify in the current transfer window, Barcelona’s interest in Junior Firpo is still alive and, if anything, it has only increased in the last few days as he remains their first-choice option to reinforce the left, Concise News reports.
The problem is that Real Betis won’t accept anything less than 30-35 million euros for the Under-21 European champion, but the La Liga champions have only put between 20-25m euros on the table.
Should Malcom’s move to Zenit Saint Petersburg be pushed through, then the Camp Nou side could have more money to play with, given he’s thought to be leaving for around 40 million euros.
Firpo, for his part, is very open to the idea of joining Barcelona but remains happy at the Estadio Benito Villamarin as well and will train as expected on Wednesday afternoon.
Malcom nearing Barcelona exit
In related news, Malcom’s time at Barcelona is coming to an end as an agreement between the club and Zenit Saint Petersburg is all but done.
Ever since Barcelona returned from their Japanese tour, they have been working on a deal which will see the Brazilian move to Russia.
All that is left is an official announcement as both parties have agreed a fee of 40 million euros, plus another five in add ons.
As a result, Barcelona’s Operation Exit gets a new boost just as coach Valverde wanted.
In addition, with cash injection will come as relief for Barcelona and also help them try and secure two more targets before the summer transfer window is over.
Both Junior Firpo and Neymar Jr are wanted at the Camp Nou but monetary issues have prevented any moves.
A deal for Firpo in particular is closer with Betis leaving for the USA on Sunday.
