Business Mogul Femi Otedola, on Tuesday, fulfilled his pledge of $25,000 to Nigeria’s Super Eagles during the just concluded Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Otedola, who disclosed this on his Twitter handle said that he redeemed his pledge because “integrity is keeping your word.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) also confirmed the redemption of the pledge by Otedola on its Twitter handle.
The $25,000 is for the one goal the Eagles scored against Algeria in their 1-2 loss to the North Africans in the semi-final. The Algerians went ahead to defeat Senegal 1-0 in the final to lift the trophy while the Nigerians managed to win the bronze medal with the same scoreline against Tunisia.
Chidi Ngoka (Equipment Manager), Enebi Achor (Team Manager) and Defender Kenneth Omeruo were in Otedola’s office to receive the money on behalf of the Eagles.
Both Otedola and Aliko Dangote had pledged to gift the Eagles a total of $75,000 for any goal scored against Algeria in the semi-final. While Otedola pledged $25,000, Dangote pledged $50,000 for each goal scored. The Eagles only managed to get a solitary consolation goal in the encounter.
