The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu State has rejected President Muhammadu Buhari’s nomination of Geoffrey Onyeama as a minister.
Concise News reported that Onyeama, who is Nigeria’s immediate past Minister of Foreign Affairs, was among the 43 nominees Buhari asked the Senate confirm as members of the “Next Level” cabinet.
However, in a statement, Wednesday, the APC described the development as a “terrible mistake.”
According to the party’s chairman in Enugu Ben Nwoye, the development is not in the interest of the APC.
Nwoye alleged that instead of working for APC’s progress, Onyeama, “was busy wasting taxpayers money in sponsoring crisis and sowing seed of discord.”
He claimed that in the four years the former minister served, Nigerians were killed in several parts of the world without any efforts to end such.
Also, he said that reappointing Onyeama would destroy the party in Enugu, as ”this is a man who has a penchant for thuggery and pulling down of party structure.”
