Taraba: One Shot, 100 Houses Burnt In Militias Attack

At least one person sustained gunshot injury and over 100 houses burnt in an early morning attack on Tor-Damisa village in Donga Local Government Area of Taraba State, by armed militias, Concise News reports. Caretaker Chairman of Donga Local Government Council, Nashuka Ipeyen who confirmed the attack said an investigation is on to unravel the identity of the attackers. Read more here.

Taraba: Operation Whirl Stroke Deals Crushing Blow To Banditry

Operation Whirl Stroke has so far killed 145 bandits in Benue, Nasarawa and Taraba states, Concise News reports. The military operation as well arrested 223 others and recovered 194 weapons in the three states. Its commander, Maj-Gen. Adeyemi Yekini, gave the figures on Wednesday when he visited Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Lafia Government House. Maj.-Gen. Yekini added that the special forces, which was put in place since May last year to address incessant killings and other forms of banditry across the three states, recovered  3,683 ammunition and one hand grenade.
