The governorship election, according to the country’s electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), holds on 16 November in the 21 local government areas that make up the 28-year-old state.

After obtaining his expression of interest and nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja on Monday, the ex-naval chief said that he was on a “rescue mission to redeem the state from the clutches of maladministration.”

“My mission is to rapidly transform economy of the state through massive development of the physical and social infrastructure and robust agriculture with industrial agenda,” he said.

According to him, Kogi needs a governor with vision and a leader with experience to make the lives of its people better.

Governor Yahaya Bello, seeking a second term in office, and the immediate past governor of the state, Idris Wada, are among the front runners in the governorship race.

Bello obtained his expression of interest and nomination forms last week, exuding confidence of emerging as the candidate of the party for the election.
