Super Eagles vice-captain, Ahmed Musa has urged Egyptian fans to come out in large numbers once again when Nigeria square off against either Ivory Coast or Algeria in their Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 semifinal match on Sunday.
Concise News reports that most Egyptian fans were sighted at the Cairo International Stadium on Wednesday throwing their weight behind Nigeria to overcome a side that booted them out of the competition.
And the three-time African champions did not disappoint them as they won 2-1 against a tough South African side.
Speaking to CAF Media after the game, Musa says: “Yeah [sic], what I’m gonna say [to the fans] is that they should keep on supporting us.
“And today, it is very good that Egyptian fans came out to support us. So, I’m saying thank you to Egyptian fans.
“So they should come out more in the next game to support us.”
On the quarterfinal game versus the Bafana Bafana, Musa says:
“We are happy. At the end of the day, we have the win. That is the most important. But the game was very difficult. But we know that it is not going to be easy.
“We expect that we were going to win, but we had to keep our head down. We had the first goal, but they equalised in the second half. We know that the goal is going to come, we just had to be patient. Finally, before the end of the 90 minutes, we had the goal,” he added.
