A former Minister of Aviation in Nigeria Femi Fani-Kayode has hailed Super Eagles youngster Samuel Chukwueze for inspiring 200 million Nigerians.

Fani-Kayode praised the Villarreal winger for “giving them hope, strength and a reason to live again” with his performance against South Africa in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2019 quarter-final duel.

Concise News reports that Chukwueze was a thorn in the flesh of the Bafana Bafana backline throughout the clash in Cairo, Egypt, as he netted the opener in the Eagles’ 2-1 win to become the youngest scorer at the AFCON 2019. Wednesday’s goal was his first senior international goal.

Nigerian politician Fani-Kayode is full of praise for the 20-year-old afterwards.

He writes on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday: “If anyone knows this young man called Chukwueze pls tell him that his performance in Egypt last night has inspired a nation of 200million people and given us hope, strength and a reason to live again. You were simply magnificent! Nigeria is proud of you!”

Chukwueze has played in four of the five games the Super Eagles have played so far in the competition.
