The Super Eagles of Nigeria will play Algeria in the semi-final of the 2019 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) on Sunday, July 14th.

Nigeria had defeated South Africa 2-1 in a quarter-final clash at the AFCON on Wednesday with Algeria needing a penalty shoot-out to beat Ivory Coast on Thursday.

Algeria won 3-4 on penalties after normal and extra time ended 1-1 in the evening.

The Fennecs drew the first blood in the clash with a Sofiane Feghouli 20th minute strike.

Although they could have made it two but striker Baghdad Bounedjah missed a penalty for after halftime.

Ivory Coast who won the competition in 2013 then leveled the score via Jonathan Kodjia in the 62nd minute.

After normal and extra-time, both sides failed to find the back of the net, with Algeria winning the resulting shootout.
