JAMB Board Chairman Rates UTME 2019

The Chairman, Governing Board, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Dr Emmanuel Ndukwe has described the process and conduct of the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) as credible. Concise News reports that Dr Ndukwe adjudged the exercise as the best ever in terms of administration and the level of technology deployed, even as he commended the Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede and his management team for delivering ‘credible and world-class assessment’. 2019 UTME: Why Candidate Was Arrested – JAMB Opens Up

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said a candidate for the 2019 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) was arrested for upgrading his scores. Concise News understands that the candidate known as Cletus Kokowa was arrested at the JAMB headquarters in Abuja last Thursday by the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). According to the NSCDC, Kokowa was nabbed for allegedly hiring a syndicate to upgrade his scores from 162 to 206. The candidate from Bayelsa State was said to have been asked to pay N10,000 for the upgrading. Read more here.

UTME: JAMB To Revalidate Candidates’ Biometrics

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has said it will revalidate the biometrics of candidates who sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in the last 10 years. JAMB said this in a statement on Sunday in Lagos where it noted that the move is one of the board’s ways of detecting impersonation. “This step is taken as a result of the huge number of applications recorded by the board, aimed at perfecting fraudulent acts that had aided impersonation in the first instance,” JAMB said.
