AFCON 2019: CAF Picks Omeruo, Awaziem For Dope Test

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) on Saturday picked Super Eagles defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Chidozie Awaziem for dope test.

The duo featured for the entire duration in Nigeria’s 3-2 win over Cameroon in the Round of 16 at the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.

Concise News understands that the two players spent several hours with the CAF medical team before joining their colleagues at the Helnan Palestine Hotel beach resort.

The AFCON has not been known to record any positive dope test after 31 editions.

Meanwhile, Super Eagles will arrive Cairo today (Monday) ahead of Wednesday’s quarter-final clash against South Africa’s Bafana Bafana, who beat hosts Egypt 1-0 to reach this round.

Nigeria will depart Alexandria for Cairo after lunch on Monday.

It was gathered that the team had a recovery session on Sunday.
