US has now won the title four times/Twitter/FIFA

The United States (US) saw off the Netherlands 2-0 to win the 2019 edition of the FIFA Women’s World Cup in France on Sunday.

Concise News reported that the US had defeated England in the semi-final of the competition while the Dutch saw off Sweden.

The game started out hard for both sides as they ended the first half 1-1 with Netherlands’ goalkeeper Sari van Veenedaal pulling some saves.

However, on the resumption of the second half of the tie, the US co-captain Megan Rapinoe struck to hand the US the lead.

Midfielder Rose Lavelle later on added to Rapinoe’s 62-minute goal to hand her side a second world title on the bounce.
